Cash drawers are one of the most vital components of any point-of-sale system. Cash drawers, even when in cash register format can increase your convenience and efficiency in money handling during transactions.
Drawers come in many sizes, styles, and colors. Putting aside aesthetics, your most primary concern when choosing a cash drawer should be the money tray. When it comes to cash compartments, it is always best to have room for as many denominations as possible. Ample coin storage is also a concern. There should always be room for extra coinage, for the odd Susan B. Anthony or 50 Cent piece that you might receive. Cash compartments should also tensioned metal bracket to help hold your bills neatly and provide for accurate counting.
Cash drawers work as stand alone objects, but they are even better suited for hooking up to your point of sale system’s computer. They are generally connected through a serial port like any other piece of peripheral hardware. The drawer can actually be connected to any piece of hardware that reads and processes the transaction data.
