I have owned my own retail store for five years. I have regular clientele, and have been competing with the large chain stores since opening my doors.

Nine months ago I decided it was time to update my equipment and possibly purchase a complete point-of-sale system. As I do with any major purchase, I not only researched reasonably priced product but one to fit my exact needs and not alter too much from the way I currently do business.

Accounting was a major part of what I wanted it to do. Tracking transactions by employees had recently become important because time consuming small mistakes needing to be corrected. I felt I had a pretty good handle on my inventory and the amount of money I was making.

After narrowing down my shopping list I started hunting for the right company to take care of my needs. I wanted a reputable company, with references and assurance for support to do the complete job. I met with several different companies and discussed all my options.

After weighing the pros and cons of each and speaking with other storeowners I decided to choose ca|micro. They have a total solution package; computers, server, back office equipment, software, training, and put the entire inventory into the new point of sale system. It was also reasonably priced and easy to afford. They even went so far as to help me with the financing.

Once everything was running smoothly and my staff was trained everything improved.

I now have a simple way to track my inventory I see just how much money I was losing. Many items were being undersold and there was an employee dishonesty issue I wasn't previously aware of. Corrections have been made now I'm more profitable than ever. When they said return on investment they meant it.

Previously my employees kept a timecard and I depended heavily on the "trust"system, and comparing the timecards with the schedule. Now the computer does it all. Making payroll more accurate and letting me know if tardiness needs to be addressed.

I was used to a dinosaur accounting method: a pile receipts, a binder of invoices, a file for payouts, assorted binders and a calculator. I dreaded doing the books. It was a major chore and instant headache.

What used to take me three days to complete now takes three minutes after a few clicks of the mouse. The POS system communicates with my QuickBooks making it even easier. Running reports was something I only imagined previously, now it's a reality.

One thing I never thought would occur has happened. With the use of this new system I have more time to concentrate on managing the business not just operating the business
